In 1996 Dr. Eli Fromm and the Gateway Engineering Education Coalition were honored as recipients of the Computer World Smithsonian award for Visionary Use of Information Technology in Education and Academia. As a result of this recognition pertinent coalition materials were placed in the research archives of the Smithsonian Institution.
