Panel III
Assessment
and Feedback
By Dr. John Merrill
With increased attention on student and program outcomes,
the role of assessment and feedback has become more critical in the development
and implementation of high-quality Engineering curricula. Traditional forms of paper-based evaluation
are being replaced by online tools that streamline the process of data
collection, analysis, and feedback. This
increases the potential for more critical discussions about content,
instructional methods, and the overall student experience, but also places
additional demands on resources to properly manage the assessment and feedback
cycle. This panel presentation and
discussion will focus on the assessment tools and processes currently in use,
some lessons learned, and the impact these have had, not only for freshman
programs but for upper division courses as well.
