Kenneth Shepard joined the EE faculty in the Fall 1997. Before joining Columbia, Prof. Shepard was a research staff member and manager in the VLSI Design Department at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, where he was responsible for the design methodol ogy for IBMs G4 S/390 microprocessors. His honors include being Valedictorian of his graduating class at Princeton, the Hertz Foundation doctoral thesis prize, IBM Research Division awards for contributions to the G4 microprocessor design, and an NSF Ea rly Faculty Development CAREER award. He is also chief technology officer and co-founder of CadMOS Design Technology, a design automation start-up located in San Jose, CA.
