GIS APPLICATIONS TO ENVIR PROB
Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a computational tool for analysis and visualization of the large amount of data involved in solving local, regional, and global environmental problems. General concepts and case studies of use of the ARCVIEW and ARCINFO GIS systems. Specific examples involving topography and bathymetry, remotely sensed images of the Earth, contaminant levels in surface and subsurface waters, geophysical survey signals, and mine contours and effluents. Use of Gateway computer lab facilities. Pre-requisite or co-requisite: CS W1001 or W1003, or instructor's permission.
