Course Information

Sustainable development and management of Earth resources (water, minerals, fuels, and land) are necessary for planetary survival. An introduction to socioeconomic, environmental, physical, and engineering aspects of regional and global resource utilization is provided. Major science and societal issues will be reviewed to provide a context for technologies and institutional factors important for resource extraction, transportation, energy utilization, and conservation. Extensive use will be made of current technical information on the World Wide Web and of modern methods of visualization and interpretation of data.
