Pressure Sensitive Polyester Film
A pressure sensitive Pressurexâ film is available commercially from Sensor Products. The pressurex film is capable of showing the magnitude and distribution of the pressure between two contact surfaces. Fine microcapsules on a .4 to .8 mm polyester sheet produce a colour change on the polyester film, producing a topographical image across the contact area. The change in colour is directly proportional to the applied pressure. Accuracy is ±10% visual and ±1% if a colour densitometer is used. The Pressurex film is limited to a one time use and to a reading of the maximum pressure at any point on it.
