Strain Gauge Load Cell

Commercial load cells provide convenient, prepackaged, calibrated and ready to use strain gauge systems. Various types of commercial strain gauge based load cells designed for different loading ranges and conditions are available. Resistance gauges are commonly the transducers used in the design of load cells, although piezo-type load cells are also used. Piezoelectric transducer based load cells generally permit a wide loading range, good frequency response and high resolution. However, the inherent properties of the piezoelectric transducer limit it to dynamic loads; long term static measurements are not practical.
