ChemGate Organization

The ChemGate Laboratory consists of three exercises on the various topics of the second term of general chemistry. These exercises represent 16% of a student's grade for the Spring Semester.

  1. Conformations of Organic Molecules - 6%
  2. Thermodynamics vs. Kinetics - 6%
  3. Protein Structures - 4%

The 2-hour ChemGate sessions take place in 314 Havemeyer. There are mandatory pre-lab ChemGate lectures on Fridays before the start of each module. These take place in 209 Havemeyer 9-9:50 AM AND 309 Havemeyer 11-11:50 AM. You can go to either section, regardless of your normal lecture time. Unlike last term, ChemGate will meet every week this term starting from the week of February 9 to the week of April 6 (excluding the week of the first ChemGate lecture on Friday, February 6).

Handing in Exercises

Any Exercise may be turned in earlier than the due date. A student's folder must be brought in to the Undergraduate Chemistry Office, 318 Havemeyer, where it will be signed. It must be signed in order to verify that the Exercise was completed.

Excerises must be handed in no later than 4 PM of the due dates to receive full credit. Any exercise turned in later will receive partial credit.

ChemGate Evaluation Form

After finishing the Exercises, students must also complete the ChemGate Evaluation Form in order to receive a grade for this component of the course. This is due in room 318 Havemeyer by April 10, 1998.
