Original Design Review and Update
The peer evaluations (and more importantly, your comments) were very helpful, and gave me an idea about how my toy is perceived, why it is boring/fun, what I can do to make it more fun, and how I should modify the online presentation/storyboard. Some suggestions that I implemented include:
- Additional bank features like a 'savings' option that will add to the interactivity.
- More stylish remote that will enhance the appearance of the overall toy.
Budget constraints and component usage were taken into
account during the original design and then re-evaluated to optimize the
functionality of the toy. Upon review, it was noted that the radio control
feature and five IR ports that were integrated in the design weren't necessary,
freeing up hundreds of extra credits. This extra money was used to add the
components that originally were left out due to the budget constraints.
These specific components will help advance the "automated room system"
concept that I had planned for this toy.
- A motion sensor on the base console that will detect "intruders" and set off an alarm (a security system).
- A temperature sensor that will display the temperature on the main 'clock' screen.
- A reed-switch on the base console that will allow the user to enter the 'bank' mode without having to punch in the security code.
- A rumble motor and bio-sensor on the phaser that will provide an enhanced and more interactive gaming experience.
