THE MILLENNIUM SPHERE PROJECT is an ambitious undertaking, mirroring in design, location and symbol the workings of human history and the human mind. It also partakes in that portion of human experience beyond mere language and material. Conceived and existant as a totem of human endeavor, The Millennium Sphere and its associated rite reach outward and upward, embracing the eternal spirit of humanity while marking in its own unassuming fashion the passing of a mere tick in the long history of the world: the arbitrary turn of a calendar leaf.
The Millennium Sphere will serve as a repository for a portrait of how this race sees itself at the end of the twentieth century of the Christian era. It is of course beyond the scope of this project to dictate the contents of this repository. We have endeavored therefore to craft and propose a fitting silhouette of humanity's ambitions and achievements on the eve of the third millenium, and trust to the future that we will not have drawn ourselves too much in error.
