This study used a new emerging standard called Extensible Markup Language or XML, to mark up design data transferred and displayed on the web. It shows how this standard, in conjunction with design theories such as Axiomatic Design, can be used to document, share, transfer and reuse design and construction information, while helping to capture the designer's intent.
