Freshman/Sophomore Experience
This three course sequence covers engineering graphics and CAD, programming in C, C++, and MATLAB, and four design projects.H 193 in the sequence is a design-build-compete project where the teams of four students design and build an autonomous robot. There are three laboratory exercises that help the students learn about sensors and controllers and DC motor performance. The focus is on planning, managing, and documenting a design project. The teams are expected to produce the robot and the associate documentation including a written project report, a project notebook, and an oral project report. The criteria for the written report and project notebook are that someone could take the two documents and replicate the team’s robot. This project brings together and requires all of the engineering information and skills learned in the first two courses.
