Robots can execute complex movements and manipulations accurately and repeatedly. thus robot-assisted surgery has the potential to enhance the skills of a surgeon and also endow surgeon-like skills to a non-specialist. Current state of robotic surgery is reviewed. The principles that enable us to design and constrcut these medical robots are described.
