Efficay of a drug is optimized when it is available to the diseased organ at the right concentration and for the desired period. Optimized delivery not only reduces cost of treatment, but also results in reduced human suffering. The module explores the application of controlled release of drugs using a class of polymers called hydrogels. Their transport properties in relation to structure and morphology are presented.
