Fiber optics has made significant improvement in data carrying capacity of networks. This module introduces fundamental principles of fiber optic communications. Dispersion in fibers, data transmission capacity, multichannel light wave sysytems, optical amplifiers, stimulated Raman systems, soliton systems and other fundamental concepts are discussed.
