Real-time monitoring of large man-made structres requires that evaluation to be done without destroying the structure. Thus lasers are used in sensing status of structures (buildings, bridges and others) through remote non-destructive evaluation by laser ultrasonic and vibration sensing. The module introduces optics, lasers, fiber optics and laser sensing in the context of monitoring behaviour and status of structures.
