Manufacturing/Concurrent Engineering
The course is designed to provide a basic understanding of manufacturing or how companies ‘make things’ effectively and profitably. Manufacturing concepts, principles and practices will be introduced in the classroom. The course will require the student to apply these manufacturing concepts and principles to a real factory project. The students will spend about a third to half of the class time in a factory working on a project. The project will cover a factory problem or critical process, identified by factory management, and the students will attempt to resolve the problem or improve the process.
