The Women in Engineering Program at Drexel University is committed to increasing the number of women who pursue careers in engineering fields. To that end, the program engages in a number of outreach efforts in the tri-state area - S.E.E.D. and GOES.

The Women in Engineering Program provides support and enhancement services to the current undergraduate and graduate students at the university. Such services include counseling, advocacy and academic advising, The director of the program also serves as the advisor for the student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.

Some activities sponsored by the program include:

  • Quarterly newsletter for the women in the college of engineering. The newsletter highlights the achievements of the student body and faculty. It also provides resources for students and heightens awareness of the many activities sponsored by Women in Engineering Program.
  • A mentoring program for incoming freshman. Incoming students are paired with an upper-class female student. These upper-class mentors are trained in the areas of communications and values clarification. They agree to meet regularly with their mentees in the hopes of providing a smoother transition to the university and the College of Engineering, in particular.
  • Quarterly socials. Students and faculty are invited to participate in this "out of the classroom " experience. Students are able to interact with faculty on a more personal level and to meet faculty from disciplines other than their own.
  • Promotion of scholarship and fellowship opportunities via the newsletter and an email exploder system.
  • Promotion of research and/ or job opportunities through the email system.
