Globe Tech VI ( Fall 2000)
|
|
GlobeTech, the live international negotiation simulation project developed at Cooper Union under the aegis of the Gateway Engineering Education Coalition, is an outstanding example of the type of collaborative educational experience that is now available to engineering and business students. Developed by Professor R. Jacoby as a laboratory for her course “Global Perspectives in Technology Management,” it has reached groups of students not only in the US but throughout the world, in countries as diverse as Russia, Japan, Romania, Hungary, and France, and it continues to expand. Though not strictly a design activity in the traditional sense, its aim is to develop skills in students which are essential to a good designer such as working in teams, negotiating, effective communication, and developing a strong sense of values and ethics. |
