One of an engineer's job involves the use and control of forces. Engineers will design and/or modify machines or structures to perform desired objectives. These designs must not only perform the needed task but must do so in a safe and reliable manner. If the forces acting in and on the design are not fully understood loss of life and property could result.

Engineering Statics is the introduction of the understanding and analysis of the forces in engineering design. It will include the study of equilibrium of particles and rigid bodies, distributed forces, centroids, center of gravity, moments of inertia. This would help educate a student in the field of statics.
