Design Criteria

  • To remove 55% of suspended solid and 30% of BOD5 of influent water
  • At Qp, the square overflow rate, SOR=1500 gal/ft2.day for each tank, check SOR at QA
  • Detention time DT=2.0 hr based on QA
  • Submerged orifice for inlet
  • V-notch outlet weir
  • Weir width=25'

  • For a well-designed and operated basin, the typical removal of suspended solids and BOD5 from municipal waster water as a function of overflow rate is given in Figure 11.
